Where to eat in Athens | Breakfast, lunch and gelato

Little Tree Books and Coffee - Acropoli

Little Tree Books and Coffee was one of my absolute favourite places to go in Athens. The first time I went there was after walking up Acropolis to see the Parthenon. The cafe is located on one of the smaller backstreets of acropoli, just behind the Acropolis Museum and about a five minute walk from Acropoli metro station. It's a very nice lunch spot, especially between going up Acropolis and going to the Acropolis Museum, if you're doing the usual tourist day in Athens.

I had THE BEST sandwich I think I have ever had in my life. It was spicy chorizo with rocket, homemade mayonnaise and gravaria cheese all sandwiched between two crunchy slices of sourdough. It was absolutely delicious. The drinks were great too. I had a Freddo Latte (took me about a week to realise 'Freddo' is Italian for 'iced' and the greeks don't have a weird obsession with Freddo chocolate flavoured drinks) which was incredible, and I also drank everyone else's drinks and can confirm that both the 'berry good' smoothie and the fresh lemonade are absolutely amazing. The lemonade especially was possibly the best lemonade I have ever tasted. There was mint in the glass too which made it especially nice.

At the end of my trip I decided to go back to Little Tree before going to the airport because it was that good. I went for breakfast this time and ordered the greek yoghurt with honey and granola, which was heavenly. And I got a berry smoothie considering how good it was the last time, as well as another Freddo latte.

Little Tree is also a book shop and they sell really nice stationery and prints. I bought a really cheap but really good quality Keith Haring print from them too, and they had so much to choose from.

The Eatery - Monastiraki

There are lots of really nice places to eat in Monestraki, the market area of Athens. But The Eatery seemed like a particularly good place for lunch as it had more of a cafe feeling to it and there were lots of small plate, light options on the menu. I got a hummus bowl with crispy chickpeas scattered on top, as well as fresh tomatoes, with pitta bread on the side. It was really delicious. I also stole some of my friend's falafel which OH MY were beautiful! Falafel is obviously better in Greece anyway, but this falafel was particularly special. It was a very good, quick lunch stop.

Coco's Gelato - Plaka, Acropoli

Coco's Gelato is one of the many gelato places in Athens, especially in Plaka, the old town area of the city. This was the only gelato place I went to in Athens so whilst I don't know how it compares to the others, I can say that it was a really brilliant gelato place. Sorry to break out an unpopular opinion, but I'm not that into Ice Cream. Sorbet is alright and gelato is better, but I don't love a sweet flavour. However, at coco's I did get quite a sweet flavour but it wasn't off-putting. I got the flavour of the day, which was Crunchy Strawberry with Coconut Praline and Strawberry Creole? (I can't read what it says on the label). It was really nice strawberry ice cream with what tasted like white strawberry flavoured chocolate in it, although I don't know exactly what it was. The gelato was also only €2 for one scoop, which is pretty good. I also tried some of the greek yoghurt flavoured gelato, which was really really delicious too.
